User Activity

Your audience is made up of people who have interacted with your product in some way. Some people are new, some have been using your product regularly over a period of time, and some have become inactive. Understanding the use patterns of your audience helps you to focus your automated communications more effectively.

The User Activity dashboard shows you how many of your product users are active. KPI tiles provide metrics to show the total number of users, and the number of active, new, returning, and inactive users. A chart provides visualizations of your user activity.

You can control the time period you want to view in the dashboard with the active date range control. As you select different date ranges, the entire dashboard is updated (both the KPI tiles and the chart).

Active Date Range

Either click the date range you want to see or specify a custom date range for any date.

For the date range you select, you can view daily, weekly, or monthly metrics. Click the Daily, Weekly or Monthly buttons.

Note: You can see daily metrics for a period of 90 days or fewer, weekly metrics for a period of between 7 and 365 days, and monthly metrics for a period of 30 days or more.

KPI Tiles

The KPI tiles summarize the states of your users for the column you are highlighting in the chart. By default, the KPI tiles reflect data for the most recent column of the chart.

The following KPI tiles are available.

Total Audience

The total number of users of your integrated product.

Daily/Weekly/Monthly Active Users

The number of unique users who interacted with your product each day, week, or month over the selected date range.

% of total audience: The number of daily/weekly/monthly active users compared with the total number of users.

New Users

The number of people who used your product for the first time each day, week, or month over the selected date range.

% of DAU/WAU/MAU: The number of new users compared with the number of daily, weekly or monthly active users.

Returning Users

The number of unique active users (who are not using your product for the first time) each day, week, or month over the selected date range. These are users who have previously used your product and then returned.

% of DAU/WAU/MAU: The number of returning users compared with the number of daily, weekly, or monthly active users.

Inactive Users

The number of users who have not used your product each day, week, or month over the selected date range.

% of total audience: The number of inactive users compared with the total number of users.

User Activity Chart

The chart provides visualizations of the KPIs. Use this chart to compare the states of your active users over time and determine positive or negative trends. For example, you might find the percentage of returning users to be decreasing over time, so you could change your cross-channel automation approach to reverse that negative trend.

You can select which metrics (New Users, Returning Users, Inactive Users) to display in the chart by clicking a toggle in the legend. The toggle has color when selected but is grey when not selected. By default, this chart displays active users split by new users and returning users.

Note: When you deselect a toggle in the chart legend, the color on the top of the corresponding KPI tile changes to grey so that you can clearly see which information is no longer displayed in the chart.

Each column in the chart reflects data for that entire time period. For example, if your selected date range begins or ends on the 15th of September and you are displaying monthly data, the column in the chart and KPIs for September reflect data for the entire month.
