Users are categorized as “first seen” when Kahuna first sees the user. The first seen attribute represents the day the user was first tracked by Kahuna. This could represent either the first day the user has ever used the app or the first day the user has used the app since Kahuna became live in the app.
The ‘first_seen’ attribute can be used as a filter on any type of campaign. For example, if you want a campaign to only target users who joined the app within the last 30 days, you will use the filter “first seen less than 31 days ago”
‘first_seen’ is most commonly used in Lifecycle campaigns. This segment will allow you to set up an onboarding campaign flow. For example, if you set up a Lifecycle campaign for First Seen 1 day ago, all users who were first active yesterday will receive the push today.
Pro Tip: The best onboarding campaigns use event and attribute filters to further segment the messages based on what users have and have not done in order to deliver messaging that is most relevant to the user’s place in the funnel. One way to do this is to use 'first_seen' to send relevant messages to users depending upon their place in the funnel.
